Shelby was once an average garden snail, slowly roaming around from plant to plant and enjoying the average amount of leafy snacking, until one day he roamed into a strange garden that almost seemed to draw him in. His hunger led him to the a strange glowing flower in the middle of this garden, which he climbed up and took a bite out of, and soon after began to glow himself. His body started to grow and shape into a more humanlike appearance, he had arms? And LEGS? His shell had also grown with him but seemed to pop off mid transformation. Shelby found the ability to speak, seemingly like he was able to all his life, his eye stalks remained and his body was still slimy to the touch, but he was able to wobble his way to his feet and look around.The garden when not viewed from the POV of a snail, was large, and was once beautiful, but was in heavy disrepair. The arch ways were crumbled in the statues that once adorned it was broken and reclaimed by nature, and the fountain nearby had dried up long ago. Shelby looked around at the flowers growing it in still, but noticed the only glowing one was barely hanging on to life from his sudden growth.He felt guilty, even if it wasn't his fault, and had taken on the new task for himself to help restore the garden and maintain it's magic as a form of repayment to the flower. And so he had started with getting clothing for himself, he learned that he had a few powers from the flower, one of which was the ability to communicate with other bugs, which helped with convincing some spiders to help make him clothing, and the other power was the ability to shift into his snail form and back to his human form with ease.He worked tirelessly, slowly gathering wood to restore an arch, and trying his best with his minimal building ability, and after several days he was ability to fix one arch, he was happy, but felt his job was far from done. It was not too lonely work with the ability to talk to bugs, all while doing his best to protect the glowing flower from the elements and caring for it.Aside from the bugs, occasional bird and himself, no other being visited the garden, which all changed when Shelby noticed a light whining sound coming from nearby. A small injured puppy had made is way to the garden, the same way he wandered in, he suspected this puppy had been drawn in as well by the magic of the garden. Shelby felt what seemed to a faint whisper, inaudible and indiscernible, but a whisper that guided him to the flower once more. He carried the puppy to it, and had felt like he needed to feed it a petal, like the flower was offering its help. Shelby held the puppy close and allowed it to chew on a petal, and much like what happened to Shelby, the puppy transformed into a snail-dog hybrid! Now healed of its injuries. Shelby hugged the little dog close, thanked the flower, and decided this lil guy would be his best friend while he works the garden, something just like him. He had named the new snail-dog, Sheldon.Shelby has continued working on the garden since then, and has made a goal of bringing in other beings to hopefully see the garden's magic fully bloom once again, he has taken up streaming to make new friends to help tend to the garden and restore it's beauty fully one day!
